Craftsmanship
Omega is known for its quality craftsmanship in the Swiss watch industry. Each watch is precisely assembled by professional horologists. The parts that make up the watch are made from the highest quality parts and are built to last. The case and bracelet undergo extensive polishing to ensure it comes out as designed. When you're buying any Omega watch, you're buying a precise art piece.
Retain value and investment potential
If you're interested in purchasing a Luxury watch, you should always choose what you like; however, a luxury watch can be an asset that can retain value and potentially be an investment. Certain models, such as the Moonwatch and specific Seamasters can be less volatile than other brands and when bought pre-owned, they can be a reliable store of value. Now this doesn't go without saying that you should do your own research before making an investment.
Omega's strong Heritage
Omega is without a doubt one of the most well-known watch brands with some serious history; Omega crafted the first watch on the moon; they were the first official watch of the US military and have stayed relevant in today's times with collaboration such as the Limited edition James Bond Collection and snoopy.
The brand was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in Switzerland and started off making bespoke pocket watches. When Louis passed, his sons carried out their fathers' passion and turned it into the brand it is today.
Omega warranty and after-sale service
Omega has an excellent 5-year warranty scheme which covers the repair of any material or manufacturer's defects, not to mention the superb after-sales services that they provide. When you take your precious timepiece in for a service, you will receive a 2-year service warranty card. There are three types of Omega services available, the first offers a complete service that includes disassembly, cleaning, replacing components, reassembly, lubrication, cleaning of the case and bracelet, reassembly and quality control checking. The second restoration service will bring old pieces back to life. The third Omega restoration service is a special service for complicated watches such as tourbillons and grand complications.
Collaborations
Omega has some excellent brand collaborations, including James Bond and Snoopy. James Bond has been wearing a Seamaster since 1995, and since then, many limited edition 007 timepieces have been released. These watches have slight hints towards Bond, such as the infamous 007 logo. The Omega Seamaster 21022422001004 also has the famous gun barrel swirl on the dial. You can also find the M16 Logo on the case back of some models.
Moving on to the Snoopy, NASA gives out Silver Snoopy awards to contractors and employees for outstanding achievements supporting a mission's safety. When the shuttle's equipment malfunctioned during Apollo 13, the Speedmaster, the dedicated tool watch for NASA, saved the day by acting as a backup, therefore earning it the Silver Snoopy Award. Omegas collaboration watches are no doubt a hit with the watch community and can command a higher RRP and resell above RRP due to their collectability and overall demand.
Omega extensive innovation
Competition helps to push and develop the watch industry's innovation and Omega did have some excellent innovations, including their anti-reflective coating used on the sapphire crystal glass on the dial and the case back. The anti-reflective coating reduces glare and improves the readability of the dial. Another innovation is the Co-Axial escapement that has revolutionised mechanical movements; it helps to reduce friction inside and improves the accuracy and longevity of the movement.
